Details for "Ultra-Deepwater Program and National Energy Technology Laboratory Overview Meeting"

The RPSEA Ultra-Deepwater Program Team invites RPSEA members and non-members to a lunch and meeting to hear an overview on the RPSEA Ultra-Deepwater Program and the Department of Energy’s (DOE) National Energy Technology Laboratory (NETL) Complementary Program.

Pursuant to Title IX, Subtitle J, Sections 999A through 999H, of the Energy Policy Act of 2005 (EPAct), the DOE contracted with RPSEA to administer three program elements, ultra-deepwater architecture and technology, unconventional natural gas and other petroleum resources exploration and production technology, and technology challenges of small producers. A fourth program element for complementary research is being performed by  NETL. NETL also is tasked with primary review and oversight of RPSEA.

NETL’s program complements the RPSEA program in the areas of fundamental science, long-term research for next generation technologies and unbiased environmental science. NETL has begun their 2008 program and is interested in hearing from RPSEA ultra-deepwater focused members in identifying areas and projects for the future. NETL’s subject areas will include an HPHT drilling center that includes a state-of-the-art drilling simulator, material sciences, computations sciences and geological sciences.

NETL presenters will include:

1.  George Guthrie - Focus Area Leader (FAL) for Geological and Environmental Systems -
     HPHT Simulator

2.  Cindy Powell - FAL for Material Science

3.  Madhava Syamlal - FAL for Computation and Basic Sciences

RPSEA encourages those members in these technical disciplines to participate in this meeting to review and discuss their capabilities and give feedback through open dialogue.

All attendees must register. Space is limited, so please register by November 3.
Register by Monday   3-Nov-08 11:00 PM  CST
